Comics Bronze Age goes on indefinite hiatus

Bad news to report. While Dad’s hip surgery went great, other life matters have escalated to the point where I have no choice but to shutter Comics Bronze Age for the foreseeable future. I certainly hope to bring it back at some point, but, at least for now, my time and energy are required elsewhere. Thanks to everyone for the support over the past two years. It’s been a lot of fun.

    Hey Andrew,
Thanks for the fun blog; you have my best wishes, and like I said before, I hope everything works out well for you.

  • hope everything works out- I LOVE THIS BLOG, so don’t stay away too long.

  • Sorry to hear that, Andrew. Like Edo, I hope everything works out OK.

Echoing the other sentiments above. I have love your blog since I discovered it at Comic-con 09. I wish you nothing but the best. Hope to hear from you again.

Dang! I will miss your blog, but understand that you have to take care of what is most important. Best of luck, and maybe we’ll see you back here some time.

  • Andrew –

Best to you and yours. I hope all works out.

Take care, and thanks to you!

  • Andrew,

    You will be missed.

If there’s anything I can do to lend a hand, please let drop me a line.

I wish you all the best with getting life straightened out.

  • This sucks, both in the blog going silent and the reasons for it. I wish you all the best, Andrew, and echo the feelings of others in hoping the hiatus will be a relatively short one.

Andrew, my best wishes to you and your family. Hope to see you back!

    Good luck with everything.

I’ve only just discovered your blog, but really love it. Have been meaning to do a Bronze Age blog of my own — but it really is a considerble investment of time and resources.

Hope you can get your running again in the near future.

    Best of luck to you.

  • Andrew,

Best to you and hope everything works out. I’ve really enjoyed your blog and hope to see you back at the keyboard soon.

    Take Care!

  • Sorry to hear this Andrew! Hopefully in the very near future we will hear from you again! I know how time consuming blogging can be, and sometimes other things have to take priority. Best wishes for a happy new year!

  • I was wondering why I never saw any new Twitter updates from you! So sorry to hear this news.

I just discovered your website. I’m sorry to hear about your life matters, and I hope some day they clear up so that you can bring this site back! Good luck!

As long as you leave the archive of older posts up, you can still garner new readers such as myself. After all, it’s not like the Bronze age of comics itself is going anywhere.

  • macsnafu:

Thank you for stopping by. Don’t worry, the Comics Bronze Age archive isn’t going anywhere. In fact, I’m hoping to bring the site out of hiatus sometime later this year. In the meantime, I’ve been working on CBA behind the scenes and stocking up on new content. When things in my “real world” finally settle down — hopefully by late summer/early fall — I should be able to relaunch and keep a consistent schedule. At least, that’s the plan!

    Thanks again for visiting.

Sounds good. Something to look forward to. :-)

  • Thanks, Dave B. I’m looking forward to it, too, and it’s encouraging to know there are people waiting for CBA’s return!

Can’t wait till the site comes out of hiatus! I’ve been checking back every couple of weeks for just such news. This site has been my number one resource for deciding what comics to buy. Actually after the first visit to this site, every time I read a comic I have to grade it myself the same way it’s done here.

I literally just stumbled upon this site while searching on info on an old Batman comic I had as a kid (#300 – not as good as I remember it being, but few things are) and I have spent DAYS on my work computer walking down the Rainbow Bridge of my youth. Whether you come out of “retirement” later this year or not, please know you’ve rekindled my love affair with the comic books of my youth in a truly amazing and palpable way. Thank you so much for this amazing site and all of your work. And if you ever do come back, I would LOVE to see more ROM reviews (I have the entire run, and yes, I still have the fully functioning figure, complete with all THREE of his weapons AND his weird Darth Vader-like breathing button:).

Thanks again and hope all is well with you and yours!

  • Very much looking forward to the return of CBA.

I’ve also been checking every once in a while (albeit less so lately – which is why I didn’t notice your update until about two months after the fact…) Anyway, great news – add me to those who can’t wait for you to find the time to get back to regular comics blogging.

  • Hey, all:

Just a quick update: There’s a 99% chance Comics Bronze Age will be coming out of hiatus this summer. Look for an official announcement in early June. Thanks for your extended patience, and I look forward to getting back to this soon!

  • John Lindwall

That is fantastic news!!! I really miss your fantastic reviews of these comics that we all love. I hope to see you back here soon. I was so happy when I discovered your site via the printed edition you did at Comic-con a while back. I was very sad when you had to take your hiatus. I hope everything works out and that you rekindle this great site!

  • Dave B

Great news! I’m looking forward to some new posts in the (relatively) near future. :-)

  • John Lindwall

I am looking forward to your return. Interesting note: I just googled “bronze age comics” and your site is hit #2! Amazing, especially considering that you have not been updating content in a while.

  • Would be very happy to see you return! Might inspire me to get moving with another one of my “projects”!

  • It’ll be nice to see you back, Andrew.
